Probably the most interesting person I met would be this guy. He is 29 and works for the Detroit Circus and works in Detroit all the time. The Detroit Circus's home base is the Detroit Fly House which is a circus school in Eastern Market. He comes down to Detroit about 6 days a week. Earlier in the day he performed at the Children's Hospital for kids who just had open heart surgery. He told me his job, "Is pretty much the greatest thing in the world," and he highly recommend everyone tries the circus life at some point. I asked him how he got to become a part of the circus and he told me when he was in middle school which was the late 90's juggling was really really popular and he never really gave it up fully. One day he was running the door at a soup dinner called 'Detroit Soup' which is a micro-funding project that is held monthly in Detroit. The head of Detroit Circus school he says, "a wonderful woman named misha" came up to him and said, "Hey, that's really cool," when she saw him juggling and yo-yoing. She went on to tell him about this school and he started taking classes, performing with them and 6 months later teaching classes there. He tells me he really fell in love with it and performing professionally for about 3 1/2 years now.
I talked to two girls who live here in Detroit. They have lived here their whole life and they love that they can relate to the people there. I asked them who impacted their lives the most, they both said each other because they both grew up together and also got through some hard times together. I asked to take a picture of them but their religion doesn't allow it.
